Reflection blog

Now that the semester is coming to an end, i reflect in my prior experiences in this class. First of all, i will miss jela. She was a great asset to the class. She did help me alot, and of course my classmate Stephanie. I always asked her questions, and she always answered. I thought my web-argument was not ready to be turned in at all. I felt that my ideas where better thought out in my head then on my paper. I just couldn’t push myself to really work hard on it. I did like my topic and pictures in it. My sources were defiantly credible because I didn’t know that much about AppleTV and Blu-Ray DVDsi think i might actually buy an appletv in the future when they get all the "hick-ups" out of it.My audience is anyone who likes movies and is interested in the future on dvds. It’s hard to imagine what is going to happen with the dvds and appletv. . i wrote about the subject because i do believe that dvds will be obsolete in about 10 years. I think the appletv will be perfected and everyone will have one or an equivalent to it.

I think the teacher should have been more severe to the students in the class. They were distracting and often times very vulgar. I was trying to get my work done and they were acting like children. Something should have been told to them by an authority figure.

My Claim

My claim is going to be that the battle between Hd and blu ray dvds is not significant, because of various companies like netflix and apple. People are now instead of buying the Dvds, they are renting them. They can go to the site of netflix and pay small price to rent dvds. Apple also released the itv, which you can rent dvds too. You can also listen to the radio, buy songs, and videos. I have some good sites that will back up my claim.

Global Warming Awareness BLog

There are many typos in this document. Some of the information is not relevent to the subject. Also greenhouse gases arent the only thing responaible for global warming- there could be other mechanisms responsible for temperture drop. the numbered arguements are the major claims and in each paragraph it has evidence from Professors. Im not too impressed by the article.

my most recent arguement

i recently had an arguement with my friend. She drove me to a friends house knowing that I had to be home around 12 because i had to work in the morning at 7. She reassured me that i would be home on time. I even made her promise! Well finally at 11:50, I said that we should go since it would take a half an hour to get home. I was fine at the fact that i wasn't going to get home on time, as long as we left soon. Well she decides to talk, talk and keep talking. I was incredible irate. I finally told her again that we needed to leave, and then she tells me she doesn't feel good and just wants to stay there and not drive home. That means that i can't get home and i have to be at work at 7, i know that if i stay she wont want to wake up at 6 to drive back. I finally just told her that if she didn't drive me home i was going to take her keys and drive myself.Well she was upset, but she finally got up and into her car.I ended up driving home in her car.

Multimodal Project

i feel that my multimodal project came along quite well. I wanted to keep it simple and to the point. I wanted the audience to get the message without having to go into great detail. It was hard to do, actually. I worked in class with this project and still had to come back another day for 3 hours and i still don't think it is were im ready to hand in. We defiantly need more time for this project. The design i made to look professional. I tried to keep everything organized so my information would relate to the topic.
Im proud of most of my project, I feel that the extra time I spent on it shows. i wish i could explain dvds better, but i feel if it is simple enough for me to understand, most people will understand also.
I defiantly forgot to post the podcast with a caption in my project. I also forgot my reference page. Those are the two things i will have to finish.

My Topic Proposal

My topic is pretty broad right now but the more I research it, the narrower it will get. I’m going to research the privacy risks of social networking sites. Social networking sites have become the preferred method for social interactions. These sites are relatively easy to access and posted content can be reviewed by anyone with an interest in the users' personal information. Facebook also started a new program which sends messages to users’ friends about what they are buying on Web sites like Travelocity.com,TheKnot.com and Fandango, I have mixed feeling about the issue and would like to learn more. I would have to describe the background, accessibility, privacy policies of facebook and myspace. I have a myspace, so I understand how it works. On the other hand, I never created a facebook account so I know very little about it. It seems like my topic is going to be a lot of work, but I am up for it.

If anyone has any comments you would like to share or any insightful information… please leave a comment!

Reflection on Hypertext

I think the hypertext essay was quite interesting. I thought it was cool that we got to make it on dreamweaver. I never used that program before. I actually would have liked to spend more time on it. It was quite rushed, and i defiantly could have made it better. For the most part, I wanted to make my hypertext look clean, authoritive, and professional. I would have liked to learn how to put pictures, and change the layout more. I tryed to put a picture of social networking in the backround, but it failed to show up so my essay looks bland and not too professional. I had some problems linking my essay to my purdue space. It would have been nice if i had dreamweaver at home so i could have worked on it more. Overall, i thought it was a good assignment.

how technology impacts my life.

Technology has greatly impacted my life. I am a very busy person, and technology has helped me keep in touch with family and friends. I use my text messaging, myspace, and AIM to keep in touch with the people I dont get to see that often. Without them, I probably wouldn't talk to half of my friends and family that often. Don't get me wrong, i would rather see the person face to face and talk with them, but it is hard to meet with friends that have demanding schedules too.

I also have a gps, which is a lifesaver. I do not know directions and it is easier for me to have a gps than to use mapquest. The times I have used mapquest the directions were wrong. Yes, you have to update the gps every so often, but i can live with that.

Technology has made my life so much easier. I do not know what I would do if it all got taken away.

cyberculture

i have never visited the sites in class, expect for myspace. The gaming sites were like a whole new world, it really opened my eyes. I never knew that people were so into videogames. I participate in myspace, but I do not have to be online everyday checking my comments. Cyberculture has a lot to do with our lives as does pop culture. I am participating in it right now, by posting this blog. I feel myspace has affected by positively. I keeps me in touch with friends that i do not get to see daily. I also can find new artists to listen to in the music section. It has everything I need in one site.

Pop Culture

One aspect of popular culture is one's style of living, where they fit into the society. The people are influenced by mass media to fit into a certain group to be liked and appreciated. In addition to mass media, the people are influenced by fads, styles, and music. We feel that everyone has a certain group to which they belong to in popular culture, even the people who say they do not belong, have created a new group that is still a part of popular culture. People need to feel that they are liked and needed so they are easily influenced by mass media, fads, styles, and music.
